The Rise of Moore Kismet

Moore Kismet

Omar Davis, AKA Moore Kismet, is a rising African American DJ, songwriter, visual artist, and music producer. Hailing from Adelanto, California, Kismet has built an impressive and proliferating fanbase (or "Unicorn Society" as they refer to themselves) thanks to their exciting mix of electronica, house, dubstep, and pop music. Davis is openly pansexual and non-binary and embraces They/Them pronouns, and is becoming a real trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ creative community.

Kismet, whose name is derived from Arabic and means "more than fate," started learning to produce at just 7 years old, using a downloaded copy of Fruity Loops, YouTube tutorials, and vast practice. Their distinctive production style pulls from various eras of dance music.

Despite being just 17 years of age, Davis has extensive admirers in the industry from fellow musicians, journalists, and fans alike, creating quite the buzz. They were a beat battle finalist at A-Trak's Goldie Awards in 2019 when they were just 14. And in 2021 became the youngest artist ever to play Lollapalooza, and EDC Las Vegas made their Red Rocks debut and were named in Billboard's annual 21 Under 21 list for a second consecutive year.

Moore Kismet's soundscapes are enchanting, profound, innovative, and bold, both in their arrangement and messaging. After various successful EPs, they released their debut album "UNIVERSE" earlier this year on Thrive Music. "UNIVERSE" was written throughout their high school experience and explored the journey of self-discovery, a boldly open and personal album that beautifully unveils Davis's radical self-acceptance. Kismet has the gorgeous gift of conveying how power stems from breaking the mold, a comfort to so many listeners. Moore Kismet is truly a non-binary and pansexual electronic star in making, with a beautiful sound and message.

Regarding the origin of the album, Kismet exclaimed “UNIVERSE is a musical culmination of my life experiences, growth as a human being, and artist over the past 17 years of my life. For 5 years (2018-2022), I spent countless days and sleepless nights working on what I would consider to be the best Moore Kismet project to date. It’s an album about acceptance, love, chaos, unity, and figuring out your life while trying to live it. If there was any project I’ve ever made for this project that serves as the best retelling of my life, 'UNIVERSE' is that album.”

And it's not just music that Kismet is displaying remarkable talent in; they are also a skilled screenwriter, composer, voice actor, and a visual artist, curating quite an impressive portfolio!

Moore Kismet is a fearless voice for the LGBTQ+ community as well as ethnic minorities and, in doing so, challenges the norms of electronic dance music, providing a voice to those who feel unheard. And even at the tentative age of 17 is a force of nature, making the world a better, more accepting place to live in. They are continuously driving R&B, hip hop, and dance music while empowering the proud Black queer legacy in house and techno music.

Kismet will be playing an array of live shows remaining around North America this summer at the following dates and venues:
