RICANSTRUCTION - Strange Fruit

RICANSTRUCTION - Strange Fruit

Recorded by underground anti-corporate revolutionaries, RICANSTRUCTION way back in 2002, as a fundraiser for the political prisoner and former Black Panther, Mumia Abu Jamal, Strange Fruit is a powerful and provocative cover of the classic protest anthem first popularized by the legendary Billie Holiday.

When RICANSTRUCTION singer, Prophet (aka Not4Prophet) was asked why they were releasing this song seventeen-years after it was recorded (with a raw and poignant accompanying video by activist, Daryl Lamont Jenkins of the One People's Project), he replied, "In 2019, Mumia Abu Jamal was finally granted an appeal, but also in 2019, we continue to see public executions of Black people at the hands of Police and white people who have been emboldened by the current White House regime go unabated. It's time for all of us to step up and into the struggle again!"
